The Nigeria Family Planning Conference is a biennial conference that focuses on bringing all family planning stakeholders to provide opportunity for fostering policy debate, exchange of ideas, share experiences on the progress made so far, identify emerging issues on family planing/reproductive health and chart the way forward towards improving the existing situation.
SHOPS Plus, a co-sponsor of the event, hosted a side event and participated in panel and poster presentations at the conference. The project's Family Planning Technical Director for Nigeria, Amina Dorayi, presented on a panel titled "Leveraging Partner Strengths for Effective and Efficient Family Planning Provision" that discussed how three partner organizations, focusing on their respective strengths, yields more effective family planning programming. The project also presented a poster with the title "Biting more than you can CHEW" and hosted a side session on "Changing Hearts and Minds: The Impact of Enhanced FP Training on Provider Biases at the conference." The side event looked at how an enhanced family planning training approach has improved service delivery quality and mitigated provider bias among trainers and providers.
